What do get him for his open house/graduation gift?
I dated him for a few weeks, but we (mostly he) decided we should just be friends. We go to different schools and he went to my prom. His open house is this weekend, but I don't know what to get him. Also, how long is it appropriate that I stay at his open house?
If he is going to college, something useful for the dorm room might be a good idea. (Trying to remember what dorm-supplies I needed - it wasn't that long ago!... dry erase board, can opener, cheap silverware or dishes, towels, shower sandals, frisbees and such, you get the idea) I would avoid anything pricy or sentimental - he might get the wrong idea and think you are trying to win him back (which is ok to do - just don't be pushy about it, play it cool ; )
If you know what he like specifically, you could make a grab bag of his favorite snacks, sodas, energybars, power drinks, gum, etc. Throw in some fun items like PEZ dispensers or Hot Wheels (I know he's probably 18, but I'm 26 and these things are still fun!)
As for the open house - I'd try to sense it out once you get there - If he is really busy with guests, introduce yourself to a few of his friends and family and stike up a few conversations 'til he is free. Eat, chat, hang out for a while and just relax without making him feel he has to give you undevoted attention. Once you have delivered your gift, said your congrats and chatted for a bit, head for the door unless you sense he really wants you to stick around. That way he will appreciate that you stopped by without feeling overwhelmed. I'm sure you will have other chances to see him this summer....
